So here's what has happened...
We are now under a new director, Parker Thurman. And since this change, we have had a whole new schedule and structure to the Ministry, for the best. Here's a rundown of what a week looks like when a team is not here:
Mondays: ministry with an orphanage for special needs children and Kids Club in the afternoon
Tuesdays: spanish class in the morning and Kids Club in the afternoon
Wednesday: ministry in an area called Tiribi followed by Kids Club again
Thursday: spanish class and Kids Club
Friday: ministry with a church in Tejar and Kids Club again
Saturday: Kids ministry in Verbena and a feeding center for Kids and Families there
Sunday: The Sabbath....
So along with this structure, we now have an incredible opportunity to build relationships with the people of Alajuelita. It has been amazing thus far! We also have been seeking out new ministries and churches to work with so we don't limit ourselves, and more importanlty, so we don't limit the Spirit's movement through us! God has big things planned! BIG things.
This morning, the Mandarin Presbyterian Church team that has been here for a week left for the states. While they were here, and through your faithful funding, we completed 3 construction projects. The first one was a church repair project for the Jehova Shama (God is here) Church in Las Tablas. We repaired around 10 or 15 sections of the roof by replacing the metal sheets and also painted the inside and outside of the sanctuary. Las Tablas is a very dangerous area of Costa Rica that is populated by a Colombian drug cartel and a Nicaraguan drug cartel. The two groups have constant gun battles over land and other disagreements. BUT that doesn't stop God from working! He is there, Jehova Shama, and He has brought peace to the area for a few days now. PRAISE HIM!
Our second project brought us to an area called Juan Pablo. JP is an area of "squatters" (people who are illegal immigrants to Costa Rica that setup shop on land that they do not own). We repaired the roof of a house and painted the inside and outside of another house there. The people who lived in these houses were EXTREMELY thankful to God for the repairs.
The third and final project was a gnarly one... The before mentioned Verbena area is a place we frequent. Again, it's a neighborhood of squatters who are illegals. It is a very impoverished area that I just love. In an area called Los Pinos (the pines) where the kids will typically play, there is a mini river of sewage that flows freely through the middle. We dug out the "crap" literally and put in a series of concrete pipes to contain the sewage. Now, the kids can play soccer without the threat of their ball going into the gnarliest stuff you can imagine.
ALL of this was funded by faithful donors. As missionaries, we do not receive paychecks. We live and supply off of donations and prayer.
If you feel lead to join me by financially supporting me, you can do this by going to 68ministries.org and donating there with my name in the note. You can also find an address there to send checks to. One-time, monthly, or annual donations are accepted and encouraged! God is bigger than i will ever be able to imagine. He provides and I have faith that He will continue to do so.
Oh and also, I have been moved from "Social Media Intern" to Full time staff and a Team Leader. I give all that glory to Him because WITHOUT HIM, I AM NOTHING!
ALL GLORY, HONOR, AND PRAISE TO GOD THE FATHER!
Till He returns or calls me Home,
